Troy Community Works is a non-profit community development corporation dedicated to sustaining the vitality, stability and value of our communities.
Our Mission: Troy Community Works! serves to enhance the long term well-being and livability of the City of Troy through a collaborative approach to sustainable community development. We support this mission through our 3 Pillars of Community Development.
What Is a CDC?: Community Development Corporations (CDC) are a way for communities to root capital, generate revenues, and recirculate money locally by focusing primarily on housing issues, but also on block organizing, preservation issues, social/demographic research, and economic development.
TCW was founded in 2007 and is a Federally Recognized 501c3 non-profit organization. We are governed by a board of directors and have two part time employees. TCW accepts tax deductible donations at any time. To view our latest newsletter: TCW_Newsletter Sept 2010

Board Member Biographies:
Michael Twiss, AIA, LEED – Past President
Mike Twiss is a local architect who is currently Vice-President of Architecture for Interbrand Design Forum, a global branding and retail design consultancy firm located in Dayton, OH. He serves as one of Interbrand’s global ‘Green Champions’ responsible for promoting and implementing sustainable practices throughout Interbrand’s 36 offices worldwide. Mike has also founded The MT Studio, an architectural design firm which specializes in sustainable architectural services for local commercial and non-profit organizations. Mike conducted his graduate work at the Georgia Institute of Technology and also holds an undergraduate degree from Miami University. He is a registered Architect with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
Jack Bell – Board President
Jack holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State University; Angola, IN. In 1988, Jack became the owner and company president for Midwest Plastic Systems based in Piqua. In 2005, Jack retired from Midwest Plastic Systems and now works for Edison Community College in the Business and Industry Center. With the Business and Industry Center, Jack specializes in workforce development for local and regional clients looking to increase the work capacity of their employees.
Allison DeHart – Board Treasurer
Allison DeHart is the Executive Director of Partners in Hope, a faith-based social service agency in Troy, Ohio. She has a Master’s Degree in Human Development Services from the University of Dayton as well as a Bachelor’s in Business and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Miami University. After working for several years in the for-profit sector for both NCR and Hobart Corp., Allison joined Partners in Hope in 2006. Allison is a certified Bridges Out of Poverty trainer and recently served on Governor Strickland’s Anti-Poverty Task Force. In addition, Allison has participated in the Graduate Academy for Community Leadership and has interests in micro-enterprise development.
Donald Willis
Don was born and raised in Darke County, Ohio and holds degrees from Miami University and Georgia Tech. His early career was that of a military officer, serving in Viet Nam and various technical and intelligence positions with the U.S. Air Force. In addition to 10 years of military leadership Don has had 30 years of business middle and corporate executive management experience. As a technical officer with the Air Force he was a NASA flight controller in Houston during the Apollo program and later an Assistant Professor of Astronautics and Computer Science at the Air Force Academy. Following military service, he then joined the business and industry sector for Honeywell, holding various positions and ending as a VP and Business Director. As a corporate executive, Don was one of the co-founders and the initial strategist of Alliant Techsystems, a spinout of Honeywell which is now a fortune 500 company doing business in defense related products. Don was most recently a corporate VP of Motorola, doing strategy and business development for their Networks Business internationally, and he retired from Motorola in 2005.
